La Parigina. Guida allo chic.
Non si può vivere soltanto di cultura e un libro come "La Parigina", almeno ogni tanto, fa proprio bene (specie alle ragazze....). Ines de la Fressange è un'aristocratica francese autentica e, per di più, con un ricco passato di mannequin e musa di grandi stilisti come Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) e Rogier Vivier, poi stilista lei stessa. In questa godibilissima guida, scritta con la collaborazione della giornalista di moda Sophie Gachet, prende per mano il lettore (pardon: la lettrice) attraverso le strade e, soprattutto, i negozi di Parigi.
Il libro è articolato in sezioni: "Vestirsi come una Parigina", "La bella di Parigi" (cioè i segreti di bellezza), "Lo "Chez moi" della Parigina" (su come arredare la casa) e "La Parigi di Ines" (una guida ai locali più accattivanti). Chiaramente, non è un testo narrativo, bensì una vera e propria guida, ricca di consigli di ogni genere e scritta con vivacità e buon gusto. Innanzitutto, non preoccupatevi: spesso e volentieri, nei consigli che offre, l'autrice tiene conto del nostro bilancio limitato; quindi, tra le mete da lei consigliate parecchie hanno prezzi abbordabili (ricordo in particolare le pagine sui gioiellieri, che non annoverano assolutamente Bulgari, bensì una nutrita serie di negozi in cui si vendono parures dal tratto creativo e alternativo, semplici, sobrie e adatte alla vita di tutti i giorni).
Del resto, tra le cose che più apprezzo di questo libro c'è proprio il gusto: è in linea con quello francese, sobrio, elegante, eppure casual, ma veramente femminile. Quando l'ho scoperto, ho giubilato, perché mi sono resa conto di aver trovato proprio uno stile in linea con quello che fa per me. Da non perdere il capitolo sui "basici" (i capi base su cui costruire il proprio abbigliamento), che annovera i classici cui associare gli accessori - questo è il fondamento dell'eleganza: costruire variazioni su delle buone basi - come il tubino nero, il trench, i jeans e....la giacca da uomo. Sì, una giacca da uomo (quella senza le pences al petto) può donare veramente a una donna se indossata con disinvoltura! Unico problema mio: gli uomini della mia famiglia hanno tutti delle taglie troppo grandi per me, quindi non sono stata ancora in grado di fare la prova...
In definitiva, l'eleganza suggerita dalla Fressange è sobria, equilibrata, ma dinamica e aperta alle novità, spesso fresca e frizzante. Un atteggiamento del genere insegna però anche molto. Perché la Fressange, attraverso le sue pagine, appare, dopotutto, una donna stimolante, ma normale. Indimenticabile per me è stato il capitolo su come organizzare le cene: mentre tutti a Parigi favoleggiano sul suo salon, l'autrice ci offre questa cronaca di una serata con ospiti a cena:
- 2 (cioè due ore prima che arrivino gli ospiti): Rientro a casa di corsa dopo una giornata di lavoro. Di solito senza avere fatto la spesa....(...)
- 1.30: Metto il pollo (comprato di corsa sulla strada di casa) in una casseruola con tutto quello che riesco a rimediare in cucina...(...)
- 1: Prego i bambini di occuparsi della decorazione della tavola: hanno sempre un sacco di idee interessanti....(...)
Non continuo la lettura, vale la pena che lo facciate voi. Ma il sugo della storia è questo: gli amici vengono a casa per stare con noi, non tanto per mangiare chissà quale pietanza raffinata; e, anche se, ovviamente, ognuno di noi cerca di trattare i propri ospiti al meglio e a me, a differenza di Ines, piace davvero cucinare, specie per gli altri, trovo che questa sia la conclusione di una signora genuina, davvero elegante. E, soprattutto, intelligente.
Nei vari capitoli si trova una manna di consigli, anche pratici, su cosmetica, arredamento e tanti altri aspetti della vita di una donna: per esempio, che risciacquare i capelli con l'aceto li rende lucidi, o che è meglio non mettere il mascara sulle ciglia inferiori, per evitare pasticci (verissimo). Nell'ultima parte, quella sui locali e luoghi di ritrovo più accattivanti di Parigi, Ines ci guida attraverso una città splendida e dai mille angoli, uno più pittoresco dell'altro. C'è la galleria d'arte con opere a buon prezzo e il café caratteristico dove si possono incrociare intellettuali di gran nome; ci sono i luoghi ideali per bambini e la galleria commerciale da sogno (provata durante il mio ultimo soggiorno in loco!): per chi ama la città come me è un vero e proprio cadeau, vale la pena di dirlo; e, man mano che si avanza nel libro, l'amore per questa città straordinaria aumenta, perché la si sente sempre più viva e palpitante attraverso le pagine.
Lo stile stesso del libro è molto accattivante: una grafica dinamica, con sottotitoli in corsivo o altri caratteri briosi, tante foto colorate e testi brevi ed efficaci. Non mancano poi le foto dove la modella è la figlia dell'autrice, Nina D'Urso (Ines è vedova di un imprenditore italiano) e i buffi disegni dell'autrice stessa. E poi abbondano battute, frasi intrise di humour, aneddoti; così Ines riesce in un'impresa davvero difficile per chi scrive una guida: essere divertenti!
Parisian Chic. A Style Guide
We can not live only of culture and a book like "Parisian Chic", at least occasionally, does a great good (especially to girls ....). Ines de la Fressange is an authentic French aristocrat and, most importantly, with a rich story as a mannequin and muse to great designers such as Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel) and Rogier Vivier, then a designer herself. In this highly enjoyable guide, written with the collaboration of fashion journalist Sophie Gachet, she takes the reader by the hand through the streets and, above all, the shops of Paris.
The book is divided into sections: "Dressing like a Parisian woman," "Beauty in Paris" (ie beauty secrets), "The " Chez moi "of the Parisian woman" (how to decorate our home) and "The Paris of Ines "(a guide to the most attractive sites). Clearly, it is not a narrative but a real guide, full of advices of any kind, and written in a lively away and with a loto of good taste. First, don't worry: by the advices she offers, the author usually takes into account our limited budget; then, among the destinations she has recommended several are affordable (I particularly remember the pages on jewelers, which do not include Bulgari at all, but a large number of shops where they sell creative and alternative parures, simple, sober and suitable for everyday life).
Moreover, among the things I most appreciate about this book there is its taste: it is in line with the French one, simple, elegant, yet casual, but very feminine. When I found it out, I was super-happy, because I realized that I had found a kind of style in line with the one for me. Do not miss the chapter on "Basics" (the basic garments on which we can build our own clothing), - this is the foundation of elegance: building variations on a good base - like the little black dress, the trench coat, jeans and .... the man's jacket. Yes, a man's jacket (the one without the pleats in the chest) can really fit a woman if worn casually! My only problem: the men of my family have jackets too big for me, so I wasn't able to do the test yet...
Ultimately, the elegance suggested by Fressange is sober, balanced, yet dynamic and open to new things, often fresh and crisp. Such an attitude, however, also teaches a lot. That is, Fressange, through her pages, appears, after all, an inspiring, but normal woman. Memorable for me was the chapter on how to organize dinners: while everyone in Paris fables on her salon, the author offers this chronicle of an evening with guests at dinner:
- 2 (that is, two hours before the guests arrive): I return home racing after a day's work. Usually without having done shopping .... (...)
- 1:30: I put the chicken (bought racing on the way home) in a saucepan with everything I can find in the kitchen ... (...)
- 1: I ask the kids to take care of table decoration: they have always a lot of interesting ideas .... (...)
I do'nt go on, it is worth you read it. But the juice of the story is this: friends come home to be with us, not just to eat some refined food; and, although, of course, each one of us tries to entertain guests very well and, unlike Ines, I really like to cook, especially for others, I find that this is the conclusion of a genuine lady, a really elegant. one And, above all, an intelligent one.
In the various chapters there is a mass of advices, on cosmetics, furniture and many other aspects of a woman's life: for example, you may rinse your hair with vinegar to make them shiny, or it is better to not put mascara on lower lashes to avoid trouble (true). In the last part, about the most attractive places of Paris, Ines guides us through a beautiful city and a thousand corners, one more picturesque than the other. There is an art gallery with not expensive works and quaint café where you can cross intellectuals of great name; there are wonderful places for children and the dream mall (visited during my last stay on site!): for those who love the city like me it's a real cadeau, it is worth to say; and, as you progress through the book, the love for this extraordinary city increases, because you feel it more alive and vibrant through the pages.
The style of the book is very appealing: a dynamic graphics, with subtitles in italics or other lively characters, many colorful pictures and short and effective texts. Then there are the photos where the model is the author's daughter, Nina D'Urso (Ines is the widow of an Italian businessman) and the funny author's own drawings. And then jokes abound, phrases imbued with humor, anecdotes; so Ines can really accomplish something hard for a guide: being funny!
