Beyond the arch
an ideal city
is open wide:
paved streets,
whiteness of porticoes,
golden palaces,
harmony of proportions
triumph of light:
mirage of those sailing
to the new world.

Oltre l'arcata si spalanca
una città ideale:
strade lastricate,
candore di portici,
palazzi d'oro,
armonia di proporzioni,
trionfo di luce:
miraggio di chi fa vela
per il nuovo mondo.
